JS Sharpe of Aberdeen
Back out on the River Don in Aberdeenshire, fishing in a more traditional way – using a 50 year old JS Sharpe of Aberdeen Split Cane rod, an old reel and some centuries old soft hackle spider patterns that have stood the the test of time.
Traditional Fishing Methods
There’s something about fishing like this that just feels right. Slowing things down, keeping it simple and letting the flies do the work. It’s a reminder that you don’t always need the latest gear to catch good fish. Conditions weren’t easy, but by working the water and sticking with the traditional spider method, I managed to find some quality wild brown trout – including one very special fish.
